Keywords:

ABSTRACT
Energy benchmarking is a key practice to monitor and improve energy efficiency in buildings, particularly those in the hotel sector, providing useful information to support strategic decision making and planning. The proposed methodology for carrying out energy benchmarking studies in Cuban hotel conditions incorporates energy performance indicators in accordance with current international regulations (ISO 50000 family standards) and a technical sheet that facilitates the organization and speed of the process and serves as a starting point for the creation of standardized databases on the energy performance of hotel facilities. The study of the case, carried out with a group of hotels in the province of Cienfuegos, demonstrated the feasibility of the methodology proposed in the hotel conditions in Cienfuegos and ensures its usefulness as a tool for the implementation of energy management systems according to the NC ISO 5001: 2011.
