Criminalistics is a science of increasing application in practice, not only used in the investigation of crimes and contraventions, but in different subjects. In traffic violations, it takes on special importance both for carrying out the inspection of the place where the accident occurred and for the application of different specialties that allow obtaining information and evidence about the occurrence of the event, determining the causes of the accident and criminal liability. Within the entire set of criminalistic actions that can be carried out in the field of traffic, there are those that belong to criminalistic tactics, part of which is related to instructional actions described in the Comprehensive Criminal Organic Code, such as recognition and reconstruction. of the facts; Obtaining samples and their subsequent expert assessment also occupies an important place. In the case of Ecuador, traffic accident investigation has been treated as a very specific specialty, since there is a specific service for the analysis of road accidents. This study sets out fundamental rules to take into account when carrying out the investigation process in procedures such as: recognition of the scene of the events, their reconstruction, obtaining biological samples, determining the damage caused, among others. aspects.
