Barreras estructurales y desafíos éticos en la adopción de niños con discapacidad en Ecuador: una aproximación crítica

Abstract

The adoption of children with disabilities in Ecuador faces deep-rooted structural barriers, ranging from social prejudice and legal ambiguity to institutional shortcomings in protective processes. These children are often overlooked in adoptive priorities, revealing a profound ethical and social gap toward one of the most vulnerable populations. Added to this is the lack of preparation among adoptive families and technical staff involved in post-adoption support, creating an unfavorable environment for successful integration. The ongoing invisibility of these children in public policy reflects an urgent need for structural reforms to ensure their right to family life in conditions of dignity and respect for their functional diversity. Strengthening legal frameworks, training institutional actors, and fostering a culture of inclusion and shared responsibility in adoption are imperative steps in this process.
