The legal norm as a factor of balance and social peace

Abstract

This article analyzes the role of law as an instrument to achieve social peace in Ecuador. The qualitative and descriptive research was based on theoretical and empirical methods, including semi-structured interviews with key informants. The results show that law is fundamental to guarantee social peace, but it faces challenges such as insecurity, inequality, corruption, and lack of resource distribution. Despite the existence of legal mechanisms, impunity and corruption limit their effectiveness. The study concludes that it is necessary to implement reforms to improve resource distribution, strengthen justice, and reform the security system, in order to achieve lasting peace and improve coexistence in Ecuador.
