Keywords:
Education, environmental, strategies, curriculumAbstract
Environmental education within the framework of the Nueva Escuela Mexicana constitutes a fundamental component for the formation of a critical, responsible, and sustainability-oriented citizenship. This comprehensive approach, integrated into the official curriculum, aims to raise students’ awareness from an early age about contemporary environmental challenges and to promote sustainable practices. This qualitative study focuses on analyzing the dynamics, relationships, and pedagogical processes associated with the formative field of Ethics, Nature, and Society. The research was conducted with a group of 21 basic education students, where key indicators were observed and interpreted to assess the implementation of environmental education in the classroom. The findings reveal both the strengths of the approach and its contribution to meaningful learning and the development of ecological values, while also highlighting areas for improvement, notably the need for adequate infrastructure. The results provide insight into the role of this model as a promoter of critical and transformative environmental education within the Mexican educational system.
