Abstract

Spiritual care is essential in palliative care for emotional well-being and quality of life. Hospital chaplaincy provides support to patients and families in critical moments. The aim of the article was to evaluate the impact of hospital chaplaincy on the spiritual and emotional well-being of patients and their families. A search was carried out in specialized databases using MeSH terms and Boolean operators, following the PRISMA methodology and evaluating quality with JBI. Of 3680 articles, five were included. Hospital chaplaincy improves inner peace, hope and emotional expression, reducing anxiety, depression and stress in family members, although its impact on quality of life is variable. Hospital chaplaincy has a positive impact on the spiritual and emotional well-being of patients and family members in palliative care. Its integration into interdisciplinary teams and further research are recommended to optimize its implementation and better understand its benefits.
