Inclusion strategies in the educational system for students living with autism: a bibliometric study
Keywords:
Autism Spectrum Disorder, education, inclusion, familyAbstract
Educational inclusion has become a fundamental component of the Mexican educational system, aimed at removing barriers that hinder access, retention, and learning for all students. However, students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face specific challenges, such as difficulties in communication, social interaction, and restrictive and repetitive behavior patterns, which can lead to social exclusion, family dependence, and low academic performance. Although inclusion programs such as the Units of Support Services for Regular Education (USAER) and Multiple Attention Centers (CAM) exist, support in regular schools is often limited and does not always meet the needs of this population. This bibliometric study analyzes recent scientific production on educational inclusion strategies for students with ASD in Latin America and Mexico, identifying trends, approaches, and effective educational models. The results provide guidance for teachers and professionals in implementing personalized strategies that promote behavior regulation, social skills development, and participation in group activities, strengthening inclusive education and contributing to the academic and social development of these students.
