Artificial intelligence and contemporary advocacy: between professional transformation and ethical-legal challenges

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has reshaped the cognitive and professional dimensions of legal practice, fostering both innovation and debate. AI-driven tools now automate tasks such as document review, case prediction, and legal data management, enhancing efficiency and minimizing human error. Yet, this transformation raises critical questions regarding professional autonomy, ethical accountability, and the legitimacy of algorithm-assisted decisions. In contemporary advocacy, coexistence between legal expertise and artificial intelligence requires balancing technological efficiency with human judgment, safeguarding core principles such as confidentiality, fairness, and justice. Furthermore, the creation of regulatory frameworks becomes essential to ensure transparency and prevent bias or rights violations. Far from being a definitive threat, technological evolution represents an opportunity to strengthen legal practice through the ethical, reflective, and responsible integration of artificial intelligence.
