Didactic competence of nursing teachers for teaching care from a bioethical perspective in a public university in Hidalgo

Abstract

Teaching in nursing is a complex task, it educates on theoretical and practical knowledge, without leaving aside what is mentioned in the Code of Ethics of the International Council of Nursing, training for respect for human rights, values, customs and beliefs. . The objective of this work is to analyze the level of didactic competence of the nursing teacher in higher education and the bioethical principles that it includes for teaching care. The study carried out is exploratory and descriptive with a qualitative approach, for which the technique of the semi-structured interview. Among the results obtained, the participants teach classes with a Bachelor's degree and some have postgraduate studies in disciplinary or administrative training. However, in the analysis of the teaching methodology, some elements such as coherence between objectives and content are lacking. Likewise, the importance of bioethics for teaching care is recognized by teachers. Although one part identifies the four bioethical principles, there is a need for training and updating of teachers in didactic competence, as well as for using bioethical principles in everyday practice.
